Today, we celebrate 25 years of Pastor Jonathan Andrews faithfully leading Berean in worship through song.
Jonathan and Yvette have been married for 35 years. God has blessed them with six children and more than 20 grandchildren, and to the glory of God, all of their children are serving the Lord across the United States.
Jonathan grew up in a home where Christ was honored as Lord. His father served in full-time ministry and made sure his children were faithfully involved in church and its ministries.
Jonathan met Yvette at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They were married on August 24, 1990, at First Baptist Church in Big Rapids, Michigan. During their years in Tennessee, Yvette gave birth to five of their children. When they moved to North Carolina, she was pregnant with Madison.
In 2001, Jonathan and Yvette moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina. Jonathan was hired to lead the choir and orchestra and to teach band and choir at BBA.
Over the past 25 years, Jonathan has led Berean in more than 3,500 worship services, playing whatever instrument was needed. He is truly a musician’s musician. Beyond leading and directing, Jonathan can write and arrange whatever is needed so that more instrumentalists can participate in worship.
Jonathan has kept the bar high for what we sing. The songs must be theologically sound, Christ-exalting, gospel-centered, and biblical. Just any song off the radio will not do.
And his ministry extends far beyond congregational singing. Jonathan oversees projection, video integration, and audio in the sanctuary. Whether he is running software, soldering a wire, or resetting the stage after a graduation, Jonathan faithfully helps prepare us for worship week after week. He is often the first person on campus each Sunday.
For 25 years, Pastor Jonathan has served quietly, skillfully, and faithfully. Today, we thank God for him, for Yvette, and for their many years of ministry among us.
