KEYNOTE ADDRESS

Growing in Godliness – 1Timothy 4:6-16

with Pam Recod

1 Timothy 4:6-16 is a call to “train yourselves for godliness” and instructs us in the practice of disciplines that promote spiritual growth. But how should believers understand the sanctification process and the tension between the ministry of the Holy Spirit to conform us to the image of Christ and the call to “work out our own salvation” (Phil. 2:12)? Is spiritual maturity a work of the Holy Spirit alone, or must we labor to produce the good fruits of the Spirit in our lives? We must wrestle with these important questions as we strive to be good servants.

The Yoke of Rest

Workshop Session 2

The Discipline of Prayer

(with Judy Wixson)

Click HERE to listen to the audio recording!

One of the incredible gifts offered to believers is prayer – a direct avenue to God. But somehow it can still be intimidating, monotonous, and incredibly underused. This workshop focuses on the basics of prayer: why, how and for whom should we speak to the Father.

The Big Picture of Scripture

(with Jessica Lail)

Click HERE to listen to the audio recording!

The big picture or “metanarrative” of Scripture is the overarching storyline of both the Bible and this world. It begins with creation, quickly proceeds to the fall, then to redemption, and finally to restoration. Understanding this framework is helpful for both personal study and for correct application of the Bible to our own lives.

Scripture Memory: Always Have the Sword

(with Bonnie Silcox)

Click HERE to listen to the audio recording!

Does your sword feel dull in spiritual battles? Want a sharper edge when encouraging a friend in trial, shepherding your child, speaking to an unbelieving coworker, or resisting temptation? Instant access to the Word of God has unfortunately made us lazy concerning the command to hide truth in our hearts. This workshop offers the why and practical how to get started or renew your Scripture memorization practice.

Blue Letter Bible: Basics and More

(with Angela Greenberg)

Click HERE to listen to the audio recording!

Blue Letter Bible is a free smartphone app and website for in-depth Bible study and research. Workshop Session 3

Praying the Scriptures

(with Lindsey Overly)

Click HERE to listen to the audio recording!

Do you have a desire to pray but don’t know where to begin? Perhaps you want to deepen your prayer life. Pray the Scriptures! Come join an hour of encouragement and renewal as we learn practical tips, methods and particular passages to pray. Then we will immediately practice what we’re learning with the hope of strengthening our prayer lives and overall relationship with God.

Don’t Just Play Dress-Up with the Armor of God

(with Rene Bahrenfuss)

Click HERE to listen to the recording!

The Armor of God is so understandable; small children learned about it at Vacation Bible School. But as we grow in faith, God calls us to mature in our understanding and use of His gift. Come explore a deeper, practical, and personal meaning of “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11).

Hermeneutics: Intimidating Word for Simply Studying the Bible

(with Meagan Germany )

Click HERE to listen to the audio recording!

Are you yearning to know how to study God’s Word but confused on where to begin? BBC has put together a booklet on how to do just that. Using the booklet, this workshop will provide an introductory summary on the basic 4 steps of hermeneutics to help you start or continue to grow in your knowledge of God and the Bible.

How did the Bible come to us?

(with Jamie Davis)

Click HERE to listen to the audio recording!

We believe that the Bible IS truth and that it is THE Word of God. But can you answer these questions: Why? How did we get it? How do we know it is trustworthy and true? How is it different from other religious books. Why does it include the books it does and not others? The Bible is amazing! These questions and more are answered in this faith bolstering workshop.

Plan ahead to join us again next year!
